Basic White sauce | Cheese Sauce

Milk - 300ml
Onion small diced - 1 no
Bayleaf - 1 no
Cloves - 2nos
Butter - 2 tbsp
Flour - 2 tbsp
Cheese grated - 1/2 cup


  • Place milk in pan along with onion, bayleaf and cloves and bring to a boil. Remove and keep aside. In a separate pan melt butter and add flour. Cook till it turns blonde in colour. Add the strained milk and cook on medium heat till it thickens up. White sauce or béchamel sauce is ready. To the same sauce add grated cheese and stir. This now becomes cheese sauce.
