Coleslaw is a cabbage salad that is said to have originated from the Netherlands which later became an integral part of American cuisine.

Ingredients

  • Cabbage shredded – 1½ cup
  • Carrots shredded – 1cup
  • Capsicum shredded – ¼ cup
  • Onions grated – 1 tbsp
  • Spring onions chopped – ¼ cup
  • Mayonnaise – ½ cup
  • Milk – 4tbsp
  • Mustard powder – 1tsp
  • Pepper – ½ tsp
  • Salt – to taste
  • Sugar – 2tsp
  • Lemon – 1no

  • Phulka/Roti – 1 no
  • Coleslaw leftover – ½ cup
  • Aloo Jeera – ¼ cup
  • Spring onions chopped – handful

For Salad

Take a big mixing bowl and add all the shredded vegetables in it. Next add in the grated onion, spring onions, mayonnaise and milk. Next add in the mustard powder, pepper, salt, sugar and juice of 1 lemon.
Mix everything together well and it’s ready! Transfer to a serving platter and garnish with more spring onion before serving.

Extra shots - Phulka Taco using leftover Cole Slaw Salad

Take phulka and place the coleslaw in the center.
Next, spoon up some leftover aloo jeera subzi on the top.
Finally garnish with some spring onion and fold it like a taco to serve.

Tips and Tricks while making Coleslaw

Although coleslaw is a cabbage salad, you can use any choice of vegetables along with the ones mentioned. You can also add grapes, apples and pineapples, which go well with this salad.
You can also grate the carrots if slicing them is difficult.
Shelf life of coleslaw is not more than 2 days.
You can use this as a side accompaniment or a filling for sandwich.
